Things to Know Before Buying a Gaming Laptop

The main purpose of laptops is to become a functional replacement for desktop PCs, characterized by mobility. It is worth noting that manufacturers succeed in this. Everything that a desktop PC allows you to do, laptops also can. Mobility, which is set as the main requirement for laptops, has limited the level of their development.

Small cooling system – con of laptops

The limited dimensions of the cooler do not allow installing “hot” hardware in the laptop. Based on the foregoing, we can conclude that laptops are not destined to surpass the capabilities of gaming PCs. Are any gaming laptops worth it?

The fact that laptops have only become very popular in three decades speaks of the demand for this type of computer in the market. Not everyone wants the beauty of 3D graphics in 4K resolution. Many people will find it useless to slightly increase FPS in their favorite game, but they will appreciate the increase in battery life.

When gaming laptops can be better

A desktop PC will always outperform a laptop in its class. In any situation associated with an increase in power consumption and heating, the problem can be solved by increasing the power of the power supply and improving the cooler. This is difficult to accomplish on a laptop due to limitations in device size and battery capacity.

Gaming laptops tend to get hotter. Engineers are developing cooling systems for gaming laptops with sufficient power, but dust and dirt degrade their capabilities. Therefore, it is recommended to take care of the cooler and clean it in a timely manner.

Not everyone likes the keyboard and pointing device for gaming laptops. Despite the fact that these components are designed with the wishes of gamers in mind, the proximity to the screen does not suit many. And the display itself may seem small. The use of external components (screen, keyboard, mouse) negates the plus in the form of mobility.

A gaming laptop is larger and heavier than a work laptop. The developers strive to reduce the weight and size of the devices, but powerful components require a lot of space, and the small screen makes the gameplay not so comfortable. Therefore, the weight of a gaming laptop often exceeds 3-4 kg, and the display size is 17-18 inches.

Should you buy a large gaming laptop?

Battery life in games is limited. Lithium battery technology has almost reached its limit. Scientists have not yet been able to make a battery both capacious and compact. Therefore, it is not uncommon for a gaming laptop to run out of power in half an hour or an hour in a game mode.

If all of the above nuances are not critical – buying a gaming laptop is worth it. Laptops for gamers are designed for comfortable gaming, high performance, and easy to move around. It is worth buying a gaming laptop if mobility plays a significant role.

Desktop options are more preferable for those for whom the quality of graphics is more important than the ability to move the PC from place to place. For such people, the desktop PC will be a good purchase.
